      Detroit

      What to do in Detroit:

Detroit is a city shaped by music, manufacturing, and decades of reinvention along the Detroit River. Downtown is home to the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Motown Museum, Comerica Park, and the historic Eastern Market, while neighborhoods such as Corktown, Midtown, and Greektown each bring their own character. The riverfront has been transformed into a popular public space with walking paths and parks, offering views across to Windsor, Canada. Detroit’s culinary scene ranges from classic coney dogs and Middle Eastern specialties to modern restaurants reflecting the city’s diverse communities.

The wider region provides plenty of opportunities for exploring by car. Belle Isle sits in the Detroit River and combines wooded paths, waterfront views, and cultural attractions, while the nearby communities of Dearborn and Royal Oak offer additional museums, restaurants, and shopping. Further north, the shores of Lake Huron and Lake St. Clair provide beaches and small waterfront towns, while Ann Arbor makes an easy day trip for its university atmosphere and downtown streets. For a longer drive, the Great Lakes shoreline leads toward scenic parks, wineries, and historic communities throughout Michigan.
