Keflavík is a coastal town on Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula, where rugged lava fields meet the North Atlantic. Best known as the gateway to Iceland through its main international airport, it offers a relaxed introduction to the country, with waterfront walks, cafés, restaurants, and local shops.

Beyond the town, the peninsula’s volcanic landscapes provide plenty to explore. Visitors can unwind at the Blue Lagoon, discover geothermal areas and dramatic cliffs, or visit the Bridge Between Continents, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. Keflavík is also well positioned for trips to Reykjavík, the Golden Circle, and Iceland’s scenic southern coast.

Car rental in Keflavík is an excellent way to begin exploring Iceland as soon as you arrive. With your own vehicle, you can visit geothermal attractions, travel along the rugged coastline, and take scenic road trips to waterfalls, volcanic landscapes, and other natural wonders at your own pace.
