Florence Santa Maria Novella places you right at the heart of Florence, with the city’s historic center beginning almost immediately outside the station. The striking modernist station building sits beside the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella and within walking distance of major sights including the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria, Ponte Vecchio, and the Uffizi Gallery. From here, Florence’s compact center is easy to explore on foot, with cafés, artisan workshops, markets, and Tuscan restaurants filling the surrounding streets.

The station is also a practical starting point for discovering Tuscany beyond Florence. A drive through the countryside can lead to vineyard-covered Chianti, medieval towns such as San Gimignano and Siena, or the hilltop landscapes around Montepulciano. Pisa and Lucca are also within reach for a broader itinerary. Whether Florence is the main destination or the first stop on a Tuscan road trip, Santa Maria Novella offers an exceptionally central arrival point.
