What to do in Marseille:
Due to the Marseille port, the city has become a gateway between the French Riviera and the rest of the world. It's the oldest city on the French Riviera with countless museums, the most famous one being the world-class museum of fine arts (Musée des Beaux-Arts). At its heart is the Vieux-Port (Old Port), where fishmongers sell their catch along the boat-lined quay. As the city was founded by the Greeks circa 600 B.C it has a rich history. The most known historical architectural masterpiece is the Basilique Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde, a Romanesque-Byzantine church. Marseille has many modern attractions, for example, the Mucem - Museum of Civilizations of Europe and the Mediterranean.
