Dallas

What to do in Dallas:

Dallas is a sprawling North Texas city where modern architecture, arts and culture, shopping, and a strong connection to Texas history come together. Downtown landmarks include the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, the Dallas Museum of Art, and the striking buildings of the Arts District. The Bishop Arts District is known for independent boutiques, restaurants, galleries, and colorful streets, while Deep Ellum has long been associated with live music, nightlife, and murals. For a taste of the city’s Western heritage, the nearby Stockyards in Fort Worth offer historic cattle-ranching traditions, rodeo events, and distinctive Texas architecture.

With a car, the Dallas–Fort Worth area opens up well beyond the central city. Fort Worth’s cultural district includes the Kimbell Art Museum and several other major institutions, while Grapevine combines a historic downtown with wineries and access to Lake Grapevine. The countryside north of Dallas is dotted with small towns, lakes, and ranches, and the Texas Hill Country begins farther south and west. Austin, Waco, and Oklahoma City can also be reached on longer drives, making Dallas a practical starting point for a broader North Texas road trip.
