      Menorca

      What to do in Menorca:

Menorca has a quieter character than some of the other Balearic Islands, with a rugged coastline, secluded coves, and landscapes shaped by centuries of rural life. Mahón sits around one of the world's largest natural harbors, while Ciutadella on the western side is known for its historic center, stone buildings, and atmospheric plazas. Across the island, traditional fincas, dry-stone walls, and fields give way to turquoise-water beaches such as Cala Macarella, Cala Mitjana, and Son Bou. Local specialties include Mahón cheese, seafood, sobrasada, and the island's distinctive gin.

A car is particularly useful for discovering Menorca's less accessible corners. The Camí de Cavalls follows much of the coastline, leading past cliffs, pine forests, wetlands, and hidden beaches, while the southern coast is dotted with small calas surrounded by vegetation. Inland villages such as Es Mercadal and Alaior offer a glimpse of everyday island life away from the resorts. History is also close at hand, with prehistoric talayots and megalithic monuments scattered across the landscape. From quiet fishing villages to open countryside and remote swimming spots, Menorca rewards travelers who take time to explore beyond the main towns.
